Halldór Smárason is one of the seven composers representing Iceland this year at UNM Aarhus with his piece "it means what you think it means", which was written during one of the first Moving Classics residencies at Curated Place in Manchester for Psappha Ensemble. In Aarhus the work will be performed by Norway's Aksiom Ensemble. Since working with us on Moving Classics Halldór's career has taken several impressive turns. In the last six months Halldór wrote a piece for the Iceland Symphony Orchestra premiered in April 2016 and in March he participated in a workshop with the Stuttgart Radio Symphony Orchestra. In June he participated at IRCAM's ManiFeste 2016 in Paris where he worked with Ensemble intercontemporain and the Orchestre philharmonique de Radio France, mentored by composers Philippe Leroux and Beat Furrer and conductor Julien Leroy. The performance will take place: 17th of August 2016 7:30pm Kammermusiksalen Det Jyske Musikkonservatorium halldorsmarason.com
